Supreme One by Mirabel [@iammirabel_]

Mirabel Uchechi, also known as “Mirabel” is an Urban and Contemporary gospel music artist, song writer, and a worship minister at Christ Embassy International.

Her new music “Supreme One” is the first single from her soon-to-be-released second album. It is a song that was ministered to Mirabel by the Holy Spirit after her mother survived severe stroke twice in the past years. This is a song composed from a place of “awe” towards the power of God, and knowing that everyone needs this Supreme One in their lives, she releases this song today in acknowledgment of her birthday for everyone who has or is in need of the “Supreme One”.

Iplayhits Review: Isn’t Adekunle Gold’s “Ready” His Laziest Musical Attempt?

Posted on Updated on

adekunle-gold
Remember that time when we almost sent Boy Kiss to the crucifix over the alleged act of templating the sounds off his debut hit single, Woju, for his sophomore track, Laye?

Aha, you do right? I was in the passenger-led seat of that bandwagon.

Next on the list is YBNL lover man, Adekunle Gold. I obviously can’t be the only one who has noticed that this new song, ‘Ready’ sounds an awful lot like a spinoff from ‘Pick Up’. They sound too damn much alike! Of course, both tracks were torched by the magic fingers of YBNL badman, Pheelz Mr Producer (by the way, I’m tripping for that new audio signature. It makes me go gaga whenever my ears happen upon them).

That aside, I think it’ll be unfair to smack down ‘Kunle the way we literally consumed Boy Kiss. Unlike Kiss Daniel who still had a whole lot more to do in proving himself past the timed event of releasing just two singles, Adekunle Gold hasn’t flinched in showing his versatility since he surfaced the industry and pulled massive commercial reception at the same time. Even at that, it’s difficult to turn a blind eye to concepts such as this that reek of unoriginality.

Is ‘Kunle loosing grip of his musical formula?
Does YBNL have one, or perhaps too many things to do with this dumb-down effect?
Oh wait, shall we point accusing fingers at the streets for Adekunle’s sudden slack?
Or… oh, he might have finally settled for this viral approach to making quickie hits as evidenced from materials released by his label mates. You know, making music is a lot of work oh, especially when you’re tasked with developing content that appropriately fits a melody.

Isn’t that why Kiss Daniel’s Woju and Laye sound alike?
Isn’t that why Pepenazi’s Illegal and One For The Road sound alike?
Isn’t that why Olamide’s Bobo and Abule Sowo sound alike?
Isn’t that why Flavour and P-Square have myriad hits that sound too alike? They even dared to call them ‘Part 2’ because we’re so dimwit that we can’t decipher when artistes plagiarize their own works.
So I might be the latest to have arrived at this stale conclusion that our artistes are lazy. And the bug may have bitten Adekunle too deeply when he waxed this new record.

The styling is so alike with his previous release. The lyrical framework are the same, the beat count and design are quite very similar to each other, the musical arrangement obviously share similarities that you just can’t miss especially in vocal tones and harmony structure. Lemme explain what I mean by that – you can literally sing both songs over each other’s instrumentation. By now, you must know that it’s very unacceptable a feat from the first (or isit second?) boy wonder of YBNL. And as much as I want to claw down on the label’s modus operandi for delivering successive hits, ‘Kunle should know better than to applying such lazy formula to his widely celebrated music theses.

Don’t get me wrong, Ready is a beautiful song. Without any doubts whatsoever. Infact, we will jam it from our car stereos (me especially – it’s been on replay sef); we will even groove to it at several chill and turn up spots all over town; couples, brides especially will use it to bid  final farewell to their spinsterhood and stride gallantly into their new life of Mrs. So you can see that the track is already a winner for whatever occasion. Still, ‘Kunle can’t afford to cave now. We’re definitely not gonna have that. His music essence gives hope to very few of us change preachers and practitioners of this industry. We really can’t bear losing him just when we began to bask in the euphoria of his creative uniqueness. He needs to buck up!
